Introduction Welcome to Elemental Hetalia. It's Gakuen Hetalia- With a twist! Oh wait, that's been done like one thousand times. Too bad! It's been done again! This time the school is split into four elements. The fire users, water users, earth users, and air users. Each has it's own abilities, and disabilities. All in a city that was designed specifically with the Elemental Users in mind, the city is located on a secluded island. So it is technically it's own nation, though it's simply there for the use of the students as well as people working there. The school is located on this secluded island in order to protect people without elemental powers from getting hurt by any elemental accidents. The island's name is Starrywater, after the amount of stars you can see in the sky in the nighttime. Most things on the island are named after the island itself, the school, mall, etc. The island is actually rather large, and only about 50% of the land is populated. The rest is forest, and mountains. Atop the highest of the mountains is an observatory. Originally, the island was home to all ages of people, from elementary school to university. However an incident caused them to make the school "High School Only". The Karma System You may have noticed that the karma system is different. If you didn't, that's okay because you know now. The new karma system isn't actually any different, it's simply got new names for the same thing. Karma is called "popularity", Exalt "High-Five", and Smite "Punch". That isn't to say, you punch characters you don't like, and high-five characters you do. Please still use the karma like it's a normal karma system. If you see someone breaking the rules, or not rating their boards etc, or perhaps doing something that is detrimental to the RP itself, simply punch them. It'll make you feel better. If so seem someone do something which is extremely helpful the forum or just doing something you feel deserves some recognition, give 'em a high-five. Because that's fun. Questions If you have any questions about anything on the site, feel free to contact myself or Feliciano. I don't bite, I promise. There really is no such thing as a stupid question, unless you're asking why the board is coloured a certain way that's kinda... Anyways. I'll work on a FAQ if your question is asked often enough, so if you ask questions you're actually HELPING the RP. Some Recognition You don't have to read this. The idea for this RP originally came from me; Feliciano is my extremely helpful moderator. I'm sure by the time this thing is running, Feli will have given me many irreplaceable ideas. So thanks to Feli! Basically every image you see, save for a few, were made by me. But I'm no good with photoshop, so~. The codes and such, those don't really belong to me. I'm a failure with HTML.

School Description The school itself is an old brick building in the shape of an H. There are three floors. The main floor hosts the cafeteria, and Fire and Earth wings. The second floor has the Water and Air wings, as well as the library which sits over top of the cafeteria. The third floor has the office, as well as the HomeEc room, and wood/metal working room.
The office was originally in a building which was attached to the gym, however the gym was destroyed and one point and the office was as well. So they moved it up to the third floor, perhaps in an effort to keep the non-elemental administrators from the dangers of the elemental students.
Typically students of opposing elements are kept in separate classes. However some classes, like Gym or electives, are taken integrated because it is considered an exercise in control. Usually there are minimal incidents.
There is another building, tucked into the back corner of the grounds, which is basically a hallway with 4 separate rooms. This building is the "Lounge" building. Each element has it's own lounge room.
The grounds are expansive. On the outskirts of the grounds, except the entrance which leads out onto the road, there is a forest. However, there's fence in the way of getting there… Not that it really stops anyone.
Each of the elemental classes, that is to say, each wing, has its own Elemental Representative. Instead of creating a council of too many people and causing disagreements that way, they decided to simply have one of each so they can argue that way. The elemental representative is voted in by the students.
The school teaches, actually, mostly normal classes. The only reason the elemental users are secluded and go to their own school, is to learn control, though only about 2 hours a day are dedicated to this control.
Students can tell which students use what elements, by the colour of their collars on their uniforms.
Elemental Representative This will be implemented when the RP becomes fairly active. I'm thinking at least 5 people in each element. Current Reps: Air: [NONE] Earth: Feliciano Vargas [Temp] Fire: Arthur Kirkland [Temp] Water: [NONE] The elemental representative from each element will be chosen by other users, every 2 months. The person chosen will have the ability to moderate certain boards, as well as be the person who keeps an eye on other characters in their element class. Basically, just as a help with the two main mods, myself and Feliciano. These things are required to become a Elemental Rep- You must have 0 OR Positive popularity.
- You must be nominated by at least 2 people.
- You must have at least 100 posts.
- You must have shown behaviour which convinces the admins that you are mature enough to handle a moderator role.
Lounges Hah, let's pretend we're in Hogwarts! But seriously. The lounges are just places where you can do whatever. They are OOC, not IC. Simply because, having a place where some people can RP and others can't isn't really fair. Any plotting for the specific elemental group can be done there, as well as any special events you want done. Like, dances, you know, high school stuff. They will have passwords, which will be PMed to you when you're accepted.

Elements The elements on this site are only fire, water, earth, and air. It's not meant to be based on Avatar, because those have been considered "The four elements" since the beginning of time. There will be no other elements such as "Psychic" because that is just not an element I don't care how much you whine. The powers themselves, excluding air, give the person who uses them the ability to seemingly "conjure" the elements out of thin air. I.E.: Water user can suddenly have a ball of water in their hand. Fire user can suddenly have a fire burning on the tip of their finger. I'm not going to explain the physics behind it, it doesn't need to make sense. It's Hetalia. I mean that with the up most affection. Just consider it to be magic. The reason air is excluded, is because air is everywhere. So, unless they're under the water, they don't really need to conjure it. The following are true for all powers: - Cannot be used to create weapons. No water swords, or fire hammers... It would make sense to make weapons from wood though.
- Can be used to change the attributes of a non-magical thing. So you can make things sharper, thicker, rougher etc.
Each element has an element they are weak against, an element they compliment, and an element they are strong against. Air Compliment: Fire Weakness: Earth Strength: Water Air is the most common of the elements. It has to be, it's what we breathe. Air tends to be taken for granted, often ignored. People of the air element tend to have calm or wild personalities. That, or they're a manic combination of the two. They generally have a temper, a temper than cannot be calmed at all. They tend to just get angry, and stay angry, until they wear themselves out. However, if the term "Air head" means anything to you, you'll understand the other half of these people. They tend to be "airy" and have trouble understanding other people's feelings, because they simply cannot think that far. Abilities: - Can shape and move the air to their will - I.E. appear to "fly" by manipluating currents under their feet and arms.
- Can create lighting - Pressing two air currents of different temperatures can create this effect but it's difficult.
- Can change the temperatures of wind currents around them.
- Can "manipulate" water, as long as there is a way to blow it.
- Cannot suffocate, always has air.
Disabilities: - To much meddling with large wind currents, as well as blowing clouds to different places etc. can cause catastrophic climate change.
- Generally feel very uncomfortable/have a phobia of places such as caves.
- Trouble paying attention, due to low attention span.
Earth Compliment: Water Weakness: Fire Strength: Air Earth is the third most common of the elements, only because water takes up 70% of everything. Earth. It's always there, ever standing. Obstinate, if you will. Earth users tend to be "hard like a rock" with their personalities. Be is stony expressions, or just unwillingness to change anything about themselves. At the same time, they're passionate. Often times they're rather graceful, though there is the odd clumsy person. Stubborn, hard headed (Though not stupid), and often things you say to them go in one ear and out the other. They have tempers, everyone does, however they tend to be very hard to coax out. When they do come out though, expect an explosion. Abilities: - Can speed up the growth of plants.
- Can cause earthquakes - This skill is extremely dangerous and can only be used by those who know how to control the radius of the quake.
- Can "Throw rocks" - This may sound dumb, but you try dodging a boulder the size of a small car.
- Can "heal" trees and plants that have been damaged.
- Can create weapons out of rock or wood.
Disabilities: - Their generally stubborn nature, makes it hard for them to learn.
- Once calm after getting upset about things, they tend to be low energy for days.
- Easily damages surounding areas. Users required a massive amount of control.
Fire Compliment: Air Weakness: Water Strength: Earth Fire is the most rare of the elements. Fire, while being the most rare, tends to be the most feared as well. It destroys, engulfs, and burns. Fire users tend to have an explosive personality. Their tempers dwarf both the Air-Users and Earth-Users. They tend to explode with the slightest of provocations. They also tend to bowl ahead without thinking first. "Act first think later" would probably be the best motto for people of this element. They tend to be brash. They don't tend to understand, or think about, other people's emotions, or they pretend not to so that they don't have to worry about it. They're almost always upset about something. Abilities: - Can be the "spark" for any fire.
- Can produce explosions - This skill is difficult to perfect bcause of the amount of control it takes to make sure the explosion is contained.
- Impervious to heat.
- Good at glass/metal working.
- Can "absorb" flames, in such a way the would put out a fire of any size.
Disabilities: - They tend to burn themselves out. If they get too passionate about things, or get too upset.
- They tend to frustrate people around them because of how passionate they are.
- Fire is hard to control, users often lose control and cause more damage than they meant to.
Water Compliment: Earth Weakness: Air Strength: Fire Water is the second most common of the elements. Water is the feeling element. Connected with emotion, healing, and serenity. That's one side of water. On the other side, water is vindictive. It has a "silent temper" a person can seem completely calm one moment, but be silently seething, then explode without warning. Water users, as a principle, tend to be more caring, willing to provide aid to anyone. People take this for granted, and the water users don't forget it either. They remember, they just wait until the right moment to "get back at" people that do things that bother them. People will often not even realize that the water user is "getting back" because it'll be so long after the fact. Abilities: - Can "summon" water from anywhere, even if there is no visible water present.
- Can control the tides - This skill is dangerous, and can seriously damage both user, and the planet if not done carefully.
- Can change the temperature of water around them.
- Impervious to cold.
- Can heal.
Disabilities: - When working with tides/moving clouds it is extremely easy to throw out the planet's natural balance.
- They have trouble "commiting" to things, because they're always going with the flow of things.
- They tend to be overly emotional, to the point of being depressed.

Canon Characters High School This is a high school RP. Therefore, the only characters available are characters depicted as being old enough to be in high school. Sealand and Wy were removed because of this. Wy appears to be 13 or 14, so if someone contacts myself or Feliciano with the intention of ageing her up a few years. Sealand would be a little bit more difficult to age, but if a person were to contact myself or Feliciano with a plan to properly age up Sealand that would be okay. Properly ageing up, implies that the character would be more mature, though the main points on their personalities would be the same. It may also mean that there would be additions to their personalities, i.e. something bad that happened may cause the character to develop a complex they wouldn't have had before. Aged up characters will probably require more thought than other canon characters because of this. Human Names Since this is a RP based in the real world, with the characters as students rather than nations, all the characters will have human names. All the characters who already have human names, official ones that is, do not need to be named. However, a great deal of the newer canon characters do not have names. Canon characters without names are up to the RPer to name, unless someone has already played that character, in which case we ask that you use the same name. Unless it's doppelgänger or something... Which will be fun for you to explain. All characters names have to be culturally acceptable. I know a few of the canon character's official names aren't quite "culturally acceptable" but they're still the names given to them. I would have no issue with, say, putting words you wanted to use into google translator for the acceptable language, and using that as a name. Simply because that makes everyone's life easier, hmm? After all, Heracles's last name is "Watermelon". Also using the language version of a name is also acceptable, i.e. "John" in French is "Jean". Histories It's generally a good idea to try and mix up character's histories with other characters who the nation has a strong history with. So, for example, Alfred and Arthur would have a history together, or Lovino and Antonio. It's always a good idea to leave space in your history for such things, especially if the other RPer wants to write your character into their history. That way you don't have to rewrite the whole thing, and we don't have to reapprove it. Feel free to write whatever you want into your character's history, be it simply your take on how the nation's "life" would have been like, had all the events in their history been something that happened to a real person. i.e. if a nation went through many other nations occupying it, you could say that the person went through many foster parents. Try to shape the histories so that the character's personalities make sense. Arthur wouldn't have a chip on his shoulder, if his life was all unicorns and fairies would he? It was much more than unicorns and fairies. Lovino wouldn't be cranky for no reason either. Families These are characters you will absolutely have to pay attention to. If they're already in the RP, then you'll have to figure out your history around their's. If they are not in the RP, you'll have to write them into your history, and then help out the RPer in the future who writes their history around your's. The required relationships are first, afterwards are just ideas or relationships that may have affected the nation's personality. Required:Belarus/Ukraine/Russia N./S. Italy/Rome - Rome can't be the Italians' grand father, but he was a big factor in both their personalities. So, work that in there somehow.America/Canada Germany/Prussia/Germania - Germania obviously can't be their great grandfather or whatever in this RP, but he should still be related. Even if it's just as a distant cousin.Netherlands/Belgium Nordics Baltics France/England Japan/China China/Korea France/Monaco Australia/Wy Not Required/Not quite familyGermany/N. Italy - We're going on the assumption that Holy Roman Empire was Germany, meaning Italy and Germany "probably" had a special relationship when they were younger. Which either Germany forgot about, or he got amnesia.Spain/Prussia/France - Bad Touch/Friends Trio, but not required.America/England France/Canada Hungary/Austria Baltics/Russia Spain/S. Italy N. Italy/Austria N. Italy/France

Original Characters Original Characters Original characters are fun to create, because we can do anything we like with them. The thing is, we have to make our characters appealing for other characters to play with. This, is hard to do a lot of the time. The best thing to do? Avoid Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu-dom. We all know what a Mary-Sue is, she's that gorgeous girl, the one who got picked on because she was just too beautiful. Her eyes twinkle, her hair sparkles in the moonlight. She has those perfect curves, her hair has six colours in it. Perhaps, she has magical hidden powers within herself, that at the best moment, will pop out and everyone will realize that she was actually the awesomest ever. She gets away with murder, she's just so helpless, she changes the bad guys good. All bad guys. She's talented, listens to overly upbeat, or depressing music, sings or plays an instrument like a genius. She's perfect. Worst of all: She cries rivers of tears. The Gary-Stu is the male counterpart. We have to try and avoid these characters, because honestly, they're a pain to read, they're a pain to roleplay with, and the only person who enjoys them, is the one who created them. So when creating your character, please take into consideration the people you're playing with. Make you characters as real as you can. Your fellow roleplayers will love you for it. Other Nations Under the "OC" category, also falls other nations. Nations who have not been "Officially" developed by Hidekaz Himaruya. That means that even though most have us have seen the "characters" for Whales, Mexico or other characters, they aren't official. Therefore they do not fall under the "Canon" category. This RP goes by the rule that "England" is indeed only the personification of England itself. So, Whales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all separate characters who may be developed. Developing your own nation character will require a great deal of thinking on your part, granted you can still use any "Fan works" you wish to describe the appearance of your character. You need to consider the country's history, and culture, as well as how it sits on the world stage presently. You will also have to come up with a culturally acceptable name for your character. Naming Slovakia, Bob Henderson isn't going to fly. High School This is a high school RP. Therefore, the only characters aloud are characters depicted as being old enough to be in high school. There will be no characters "hacking their way" into high school, or skipping grades, because that isn't fair to other people. Or you end up with 10, 12 year old kids who've skipped 6 grades. Families General OCs, those not based on nations, may, under no circumstances, ever be related to a nation. Because they're just that, general OCs. They have their own families. Nation OCs may be related to another nation, but you need to ask the person RPing that character currently. Or, if no one is RPing that character, you need to let me or Feliciano know that your character is going to be related. So we can add them to the "Families/History" section of the Canon Characters post. You need to be respectful of the other RPer, if that person asks you to base your character's history off of theirs in order to be related, we ask that you do as they say. It's not fair to ask them to rewrite their character's whole history for you. Altering their history here and there is okay, but if they rewrite the whole thing, generally myself or Felicano would have to reread and reaccept their application. Just to make sure nothing was amiss. Appearance OCs, general as well as nation OCs, will all require something added to their application form. This is the "Appearance" category. You are free to use a picture, however a proper description of your OC is required as well. The additional category should go above personal info, and under general info. Appearance:
::Height:: Preferably in both centimetres and feet/inches. Use google for the conversions.
::Weight:: You may be specific, i.e. pounds/kilograms, or simply use "Fat/Slightly Above Average/Average/Slender/Skinny". When using the specific weight, think honestly. Don't make a 6 foot(183 centimetres) tall person weigh 130 pounds. You'd be dead.
::Hair:: Hair style/length/colour goes here. Feel free to go into a longer description, or (as an example) something like "Straight/Long/Red"
::Eyes:: Just put a colour here, no describing your character's piercing gaze.
::Scars/Markings:: Any scars, beauty marks, or birth marks that need to be noted. If you feel like adding the clothing style, or any special "Ahoge" or anything else, go right ahead and do that. If you feel like describing the character in one big paragraph as well, you may also do that.

Rating System Did you read the "rating" rule in the rules section and go "Ha-Va-What?" Or did you not read the rules section and you're just really confused now? Well, I'll explain the reason for the rating system here. I honestly feel like having a website be only PG-13 is slighting to an RPer's, artist's, or any writer's creativity. If the site ends up being "Shut down" because of my rules, then whatever. I'll just find somewhere else to put the site. The rating system assumes I can trust you guys, that you will not only put the ratings in your board titles, but communicate with each other about your RPs. Just in case you need to go over the actual rating system again, I'll place a copy here: Ratings:Ratings in different countries are very different. Since I'm not American, we're going by my country's rules.PG-13: Minimal language, you can only use the word "Fuck" twice before it goes up in rating. No sex, but being naked is okay as long as it's not sexual. Minimal violence. Minimal blood. No more than 2 explosions involving people. R The equivalent of 17+ (Why it goes from 13 to 17 I'll never know). Swearing, to a point. There is absolutely no punctuating words with swear words. That just makes you look immature, and rude. Non-descriptive sex, how this works in RPing well... Will be interesting to find out. Violence, but still hopefully not too much blood. No more than 4 explosions involving people. NC-1818+ I'm hoping not to see very many of these? Unless it's for the obvious reason. *cough*You can swear. But we're still not punctuating words with swear words. Sex. Need an explanation? Why do you think they rate the "dirty" things on the kinkmeme this? Don't look so shocked, I know we all go there.Violence is allowed. But we still don't want maiming.
